Iconic Hebel

Updated: Dec 26, 2024

We said farewell to Charlie and Koko and left them in the capable hands of Anthony and Tiffany and their two boys.

Before getting as far as Pittsworth we had a stone hit the windscreen, nice big three inch star on the drivers side of the windscreen. On we go to Goondiwindi, time for fuel, while sitting in the queue old mate in front of us decides to reverse into us. Said he could hear a car horn just not sure where it was coming from!

We continued on and arrived in Hebel mid-afternoon. After a quick setup we wandered across the road for a drink at the pub. We got chatting with one of the locals who provided us with lots of local history including that his great grandmother had her wedding night in one of the rooms behind the pub in 1885!

Hebel is a great place for an overnight stop, the iconic pub was filled with locals and visitors having a good Saturday night. Order dinner at the general store and take it across the road to eat at the pub.
