First night out. Find a free camp somewhere along the way ...

Have booked a night in their famous artesian hot spring baths (40 degrees) for a sunset private bath. This is a 27,000 hectare sheep station near Cunnamulla

Under the stars way out west by a waterhole!

Been here a couple of times - fabulous place - history, sunsets ... keen to see the water level and the bird life given the rain in the north

We travel from Broken Hill to Yunta then hit the dirt to Waukaringa. Stayed here last trip ... a ghost town with a few buildings notably the old pub. Town was deserted in the 1950s.

Passing to the east of the Flinders Ranges and due east from Wilpena Pound. An alternative track from our last trip where we went further north to Arkaroola. This will take us through to Blinman, Parachilna and on to Lyndhurst. The Oodnadatta Track is north of here.

The Oodnadatta Track is about 620kms and follows an ancient route used by the indigenous ochre traders for '000s of years. It is barren and remote. We travelled along here in 2024.

Maybe camp at Algebuckina Bridge where we camped last trip.

Between Coober Pedy and Oodnadatta. We did a tyre on this section last trip. Hoping for a magic sunset in the Painted Desert.

Part of a chain of mound springs extending along the outer rim of the Great Artesian Basin and on the western edge of the Simpson Desert.

Old Andado Station is a remote cattle station that is a time capsule. Leaving here we travel a sandy and circuitous track with no services passing through Finke (famous for the Desert Race) to Chambers Pillar.

Chambers Pillar is a 50m sandstone pillar rising out of the largely flat landscape.

Heading west to Kings Canyon. Sandstone bluffs and cliffs abound.

Station Stay. Then head to Kings Canyon and do the Rim walk.

Binns Track is a very isolated and remote series of tracks running almost parallel to the Stuart Hwy heading north to Davenport NP. In its entirety it is 2,200kms. We will cover abour 600kms of it. A land of massive cattle stations and limestone landscapes

Known for its garnets, zirconia and gemstones

Rugged outcrops and waterholes. A night at Old Policemans Waterhole. About 500kms north of Alice Springs

Overnight at Whistleduck Creek Campground

Barkly Homestead is a remote roadhouse situated on the Barkly Highway, halfway between Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory and Camooweal in Queensland

Remote and isolated NP with woodlands, billabongs, flood plains and giant banded cone shaped beehives with four river crossings. No services or fuel for 520km.

More giant cone shaped beehives. 28km track into the Western Lost City - average time is around 1.5hrs each way. Many rocky creeks along the way.

606km south of Darwin, 312 km east of Katherine and 1235km from Alice Springs. Home to big barramundi and salt water crocs. No swimming here!

Start the 735km trek to Nhulunbuy in East Arnhem on the Gove Peninsula. Need travel permits and other permits to enter. Only one place for fuel. Getting more remote.

About 55km from Nhulunbuy. Waterholes and mini gorges. Water crossings.

The caravan killer! Not for the faint hearted. 660km of mainly unsealed road (470km): heavy corrugations, loose gravel, potholes and/or rocks. Gorges, many river crossings and cattle stations. Limited services.  Salt water crocs. Iconic! Road is only open during the dry season (May to October).

Depending on how much traffic is on the road, and how quickly the surface deteriorates between the grader doing its thing, there may be corrugations and dust holes on some sections of road. Soon after the maintenance grade, the road surface will be loose with the likelihood of some rocks on the road.
