Coffin Bay ... famous for?

On our final night at Lincoln Track we celebrated Cate’s birthday ... bubbles, beautiful view and at last ... no wind! And a good time was had by all!

The following day we left Lincoln Track and headed for Coffin Bay NP, needed an early start so we were setup and ready to watch the AFL Grand Final. While we were set up in time to watch the Lions win it was the only part of the day when the heavens opened, and things got a tad damp with rivers running under the TVan.

Day 2 was still windy but no rain, so we took the opportunity to do a walk out along the Yangie Bay trail, a very nice walk with lot of wildflowers and the occasional emu.

After 2 days of more wind here at Yangie Bay (which is part of the Coffin Bay National Park) we have a stunner ... 20 degrees, clear blue skies and no wind ! Yes!!!!

The Yangie Bay Campground is worth a visit ... the locals are friendly with a mob of local kangaroos wandering through the campsite and the odd emu walking past – there is plenty of green feed on the ground everywhere – these guys are the chosen ones – food on tap ... easy life...

Went for a bit of drive around the National Park ... when we were here 2 years ago we stopped before we got to the really interesting and speccy stuff ... lesson here ...

The coastline is stunning ... there are some 4WD tracks that require air up/down which apparently are pretty awesome ... but we opted instead to head back into Coffin Bay (about 14kms) and pick up a couple of dozen local oysters for lunch ... washed down with a Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc overlooking the fabulous Yangie Bay ... tuff life ... but all in the name of helping the local businesses ... although they must be doing ok because the shelves in the local IGA were bare!

Tomorrow, we head to Ceduna for a restock of supplies and water as well as the obligatory laundry!  Can’t take much in the way of fresh fruit or veges after Ceduna as there is a border Fruit & Vege Quarantine Station at Eucla Village just as we enter WA.  There is also another at Norseman at the end of the Eyre Highway in WA.
