Just a short update … we are currently at Edith Falls in the NT. You may have seen it in the NEWS … yesterday (Tuesday), a man in his 50s drowned at our location. It apparently was around the time we were in the water. There were only about 10-12 people in the water at the time. We didn't see anything.
The main pool (think large lake size) is closed as are all walking trails in the National Park. Other than not being able to access anything … we are ok. Police and Surf Rescue are still searching for the body.
Instead, today we went back down to Katherine to Nitmiluk National Park and Katherine Gorge. We did a 6km walk mostly uphill and along the ridgeline of the gorge. From the ridgeline looking down into the gorge we spotted a lazy croc on the surface who disappeared once the river cruise approached.

We are camped near a couple who are enamoured by our Tvan and wanted to know all about it … they flew into Darwin from the Sunshine Coast where they planned collect their pre-booked 4WD with twin rooftop tents and go off-grid. When they arrived to pick up the vehicle they were informed that it was not available as the previous renters had trashed it and written it off. They were provided with a motorhome instead … strict condition of no more than 12kms on unsealed roads.
They have arrived today at Edith Falls in the motorhome with no access to their 4WD holiday, only to find that all of the walks and pools at Edith Falls are closed. Given that this is the peak travel time in this area, they have been unable to secure accommodation (other than what they can find by free camping – which is limited due to the size of the motorhome and the need to stay off unsealed roads).

And so it goes ...
